BLACKFOOT — A photography studio, beauty makeovers and massage therapy might seem like an odd combination under one roof for a business, but it's working out perfectly for young business owner Shauny Solinsky at her new business "Velair" (130 S. Broadway) in Blackfoot.
Shauny, who was the only girl in her family, said she always loved playing in makeup and would often dress up and put makeup on her two little brothers, taking pictures, much to their chagrin.
"My brothers will probably hate me for saying this," she joked. "My mom sold Mary Kay cosmetics so there was always lots of make-up around the house."
Shauny's continued interest in makeup and photography continued into adulthood. She attended Austin Kade Academy Beauty School in Idaho Falls while running a small photography business in Blackfoot.
Shauny's passion for photography, makeup and "all things beauty" inspired her to open Velair, a business name that she said "came to her in a dream."
"I wanted a name that would encompass all kinds of services and 'Velair' works," she said.
Shauny's skills in makeup artistry compliment her photography businesses nicely, enabling her to do "glamour" and "baby doll" shots along with wedding, special occasion and family photography.
Younger brother, Stetson, who is a licensed esthetician and massage therapist, also enhances the businesses by offering services such as body and facial massage, foot zoning, reflexology and (iconic) detox foot baths.
