“Bird” Robin G. Matsaw, 52, sprouted her wings and journeyed on from this world Friday, February 28, 2014, at her home in Fort Hall, surrounded by family after a very courageous two year battle with colon cancer.
Robin was born July 23, 1961, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Elizabeth A. Cerino and Clyde O. Dixey Sr. and had five siblings: two brothers, Clyde “Tyke” Dixey Jr. and Aaron Dixey and three sisters, Caroline Dixey, LeeAnn (Vincent) Avila and Lizzie (Lance) Boyd.
Robin attended Sho-Ban High School, where she was voted Most Friendly; then went on to graduate from Blackfoot High School in 1979. She married Terry L. Matsaw in 1980 and in union had one daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Stagner. Robin also had the joy of being a grandmother to one granddaughter, Scarlette R. Stagner.
Throughout her life, Robin worked at Nonpariel in Blackfoot, for Local Union 159 on the Northwest Pipeline, Fort Hall Post Office, TP Gas Station, as a bingo cashier, soft-count attendant and cage cashier at the Fort Hall Casino. Robin enjoyed reading, gambling, cooking, playing pool, watching reality TV, going to the hot pools at Lava and spending time with her family, especially her two favorite nieces, Laurell Dixey and Dominica Dixey, along with numerous other nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Robin is survived by her father, siblings, her favorite daughter and granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Columbo and Esther Cerino, paternal grandparents, Francis and Virgie Dixey, her mother, her husband and her favorite wiener dog Dottie Ann Matsaw.
“Birds” wishes were to have family and friends welcomed to one viewing and memorial service Monday, March 3, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot, Idaho. As per her wishes cremation will follow the service. On Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2 p.m. there will be a graveside service at the Ross Fork Cemetery, with a dinner to follow at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Mission in Fort Hall, Idaho.
