BLACKFOOT—The Blackfoot City Council moved to increase the city's sewer, sanitation and water fees at Tuesday's city council meeting. The higher fees will hit the utility bills of residents starting in July.
The council also increased pool admission at the Blackfoot Municipal Swimming pool; however, the fees will be revisited again in six months after the pool committee completes its evaluations on the pool and reports back to the council with suggestions on what can done to bring the aging facility back up to par.
A public hearing was held prior to the council's final decision on the fee increases; however, Blackfoot resident Leon Peterson was the only person to step up and voice his concerns about pool prices.
Admission to the Blackfoot Swimming Pool will increase $1 per visit and a 25- visit punch card will go up $25. Swimming lessons will go up $5. Blackfoot residents will be offered a 10 percent discount at the pool if they are able to show some proof of their residency. Group, party and military rates will remain the same.
