John Taberna of Blackfoot won the Tommy Vaughn Marathon for the third straight year on Saturday.
Taberna finished the 26.2-mile course, changed slightly to put the finish at the shelter in Jensen Grove, in 3 hours, 5 minutes and 43 seconds. Nate Reese of Iona finished second in 3:14.33 with Tony Parsons of Blackfoot third in 3:17.18.
"I was under three (hours) easy, then I hit the wall at 22 miles," Taberna said of his race. "It was great weather with good runners. We all ran well, then the heat came and I lucked out," Taberna said.
Conditions were nearly perfect with temperatures in the 60s at the end of the race and only a slight breeze.
Anya Ogden of Rigby won the women's race.
In the Challenger's marathon, which pitted four hand-cyclists against one another, Ryan Rigard of Bozeman, Mont., finished in 1 hour and 20 minutes. He was the third of four men from Montana who have competed here each year.
"We came because Jon (race director Jon Lyksett) treats us so good," said Richard Harris of Bozeman, Mont.
The races — the And More part of the event's official name — raised $3,500 for the Community Dinner Table.
