BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot volleyball program paid a fond farewell to four seniors on Tuesday night as Taylor Sheepskin, Quinci Mortensen, Vanessa Wislodoski and Andrea Smith took to the home court for the final time in their prep careers.
At the end of the evening Hillcrest proved to be inhospitable house guests however, as they spoiled the evening by winning the match 3-1.
"These girls are the beginning of the heritage here at Blackfoot," Blackfoot head coach Lorin Lilya said. "They set the tone for the other girls coming behind and they do mean a lot. They are going to be a big miss when they are gone because of their desire to play and love of the game and we will need to continue that. I am just very impressed with each one of them."
After an emotional pre-match ceremony the Broncos took to the court just a tad unfocused as Hillcrest raced to a 25-13 win.
Blackfoot rebounded however, winning game two 25-23.
The momentum stalled after that though as Hillcrest won the next two games 25-13 and 25-18.
"Very impressed with the seniors tonight," Lilya said. "First game, well there was a lot of emotion but once we got that out then they played really good, very well in the second game. In the third game we let down a bit but they did fantastic and if we keep that momentum going, and if we continue to play with that desire then we can be a surprise team in the tournament."
