During a brief public hearing on Tuesday night, Blackfoot city leaders approved executing funds from this year’s [2013-2014] fiscal year budget to supplement the cost of an improvement project at Blackfoot’s McCarley Field Airport.
Blackfoot Mayor Paul Loomis explained that the city has secured a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for $372,760.
The project slated at the airport will include the installation of new runway lighting, a beacon and supplemental windsocks.
Loomis said the project, which is scheduled to start on Monday, will cost $414,178. He said that the Idaho Department of Transportation will kick in about $18,000 which will leave the city with a balance of around $24,000.
