IDAHO FALLS — A night after a heart breaking loss to Hillcrest the Shelley Russets returned to the court looking to stay alive in the High Country Conference tournament as they battled Madison on the Bonneville court.
After a sluggish start to begin the night, Shelley found themselves battling up hill for the remainder of the evening, leading to a sweep at the hands of the Cats 25-11, 25-21 and 25-17.
"We knew coming into this year that it was going to be a rebuilding year," Shelley head coach Ceanna Larson said. "We were coming up to 4A which was completely different and we were going to do some things totally different here than with past coaches. I think that the girls have learned and improved and they have really improved ten fold from their first game. We needed to break some bad habits that needed to be broken but by the end of the season we have really gotten the girls to where they should excel in the next couple of years."
Junior Amanda Kelley had 5 kills and 20 digs for the Russets while fellow junior Tanaia Hollist continued her strong play with 10 assists and 26 digs.
Sophomore Samantha Orme tallied 5 kills while senior Michelle Fowler finished her Russet career with 4 kills.
