Backstage concert coming to Blackfoot

BLACKFOOT — The highly acclaimed bluegrass duo "Otter Creek" will perform at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center (BPAC) on Friday, offering bluegrass and country music fans an entertaining and unique "backstage" experience.
BPAC programming director Susan Mann, explained, "In a backstage event the audience sits right on the stage surrounding the performers in a circular seating arrangement. There is a lot of interaction between the performers and the audience. If you've never been to a backstage concert before you will absolutely love it."
Husband and wife team Peter and Mary Danzig make up Otter Creek with 10 instruments and 53 strings to tune between them.
The two came onto the national folk scene in 2012 with back to back albums on the folk charts. In the 4 years since, they have won numerous awards for their virtuosic instrumentals, adept songwriting and visionary arrangements of traditional and original tunes.
This June Peter won the Utah State Fiddle Championship, while Mary won it in 2011. They have opened for The Claire Lynch Band and have performed with many acclaimed songwriters including Peter Mayer, Kate MacLeod and Alicia McGovern.
"They have won just about every fiddling/banjo award that there is," Mann said. "If you like bluegrass...if you like will enjoy this concert."
Mann said that BPAC can seat up to 200 on the stage and that tickets to see Otter Creek are still available for just $10. Tickets are available at Tweedy's Music in Blackfoot, online at or by calling 208-317-5508. Tickets will also be available at the door. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m.
