Bingham eligible for disaster funding

Ted Hendricks, the community and economic development director at the East-Central Idaho Planning & Development Association (ECIPDA), presented information on Thursday about disaster relief funding and business development programs to Bingham County and City of Blackfoot officials and staff.
"There is currently $94 million available through the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) regional office in Seattle for disaster funding," Hendricks explained. "These moneys have very favorable matching requirements of zero to twenty percent."The disaster relief funds are only available to communities or regions affected by a federally-declared natural disaster in 2017. Bingham County was one of four in Idaho that were declared a natural disaster area by the federal government last year. As a result, the county and the communities within it are eligible to apply for these grants.
