Cleo Dean Camphouse, 85

Cleo Dean Camphouse, 85 of Blackfoot passed away Sunday Nov. 10, 2013 at his home with his family around him.
 He was born May 13, 1928 in Rexburg, the son of Harry Dioniesius Camphouse and Mary Christina Baggesen Camphouse.  Cleo passed away not wanting to leave his family as they were the most important thing in his life.  Peacefully Cleo went fishing Nov. 10, 2013.
Cleo was raised in a large family; he was next to the youngest of 12 children. All of his brothers and sisters have preceded him in death. 
Working and providing for the family was always a priority of Cleo’s . He learned this at a very young age working on the family farm in Rexburg.  He was always a very hard worker, and at the age of 15 he left school so he could seek new adventures. 
As a young man, Cleo worked for different farmers around Southeast Idaho, gaining experience in operating heavy equipment, driving truck, and semi trailers.  With this knowledge he obtained his employment of 40 years with the J.R. Simplot Company in Pocatello from which he retired in 1991.  Throughout Cleo’s endeavor he traveled learning his tradebut he called Blackfoot home.  He rode horses, took care of live stock and worked in the fields  driving tractor before he decided to settle down.
In 1951 he married the love of his life, Norma Jean Byington Camphouse in Blackfoot. They were married at the home of Bishop Richard Yancey.
After Cleo and Norma were married Cleo worked for Wards Dairy for several years.  They built a life together along with their 6 amazing children: Steven (Anna Marie Lucy), Cherryl Dahlquist, Gary Camphouse, Cleo Randy Camphouse (deceased), all of Blackfoot; and Kenneth Camphouse of Seattle, Wash. and Paul (Tauna Denny) Camphouse of Havre, Mont.
  Cleo was blessed with 14 grandchildren: Michelle (Marvin) Nelson of Utah, Walter (Hilary) Camphouse of Tennessee; Johnathan (Deea) Dahlquist, Chad Camphouse of Montana, Justin Camphouse, Asia (Allen) Tolken of Washington, Jeremy (Cheri) Camphouse of Alaska, Natasha (Darrell) Sisson, Sky Camphouse (Kevein Boyd), Zachary Camphouse of Washington and LaTeesha (Henry) Villegas, AJ Denny, Veronica, Monica Gonzales of Idaho.
With these grandchildren he was blessed with 15 ½ great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Cleo Randy; his parents; sisters Stella Camphouse, Flora Gardner, and Arleen Wilkinson; brothers; Kermit, George Kenneth, Henry, Sam, Russel and Hal, and son-in-law Danny L. Dahlquiest.
Cleo was just as likely to offer you a helping hand when wanted and the door was always open. He enjoyed fishing, camping, riding horses and his family was the most important thing to him; this included his nieces and nephews as the were all so special to him.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was also a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks #1416.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 at the Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot. Burial will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.
Family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home and one hour prior to services .Condolences may be sent to the family at
