Eagle Scout project helps cats at Humane Society

Boy Scout Payton Bird of Blackfoot Troop 235 built cat beds for the Bingham County Humane Society to complete his Eagle Scout project. His court of honor will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, at the Blackfoot First Ward Building, 187 N. Ash St.

Payton Bird's love for cats brought him to the Bingham County Humane Society two years ago where he adopted his cat, Skittles. His Eagle Scout project saw him return to the Humane Society to help out. When he needed an idea for his Eagle Scout project, Payton returned to the Humane Society to see if there was some way he could help.
"I asked Marcia at the Humane Society if she had a project I could do," Payton said. "Building cat beds, was her reply; they are a pain to put together.'"
