Howard C. Ketchum

Howard C. Ketchum, 88, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Willows Assisted Living Center in Blackfoot.
 He was born March 24, 1925 in Sandpoint, the son of William and Mary Grace Ketchum
 He attended school through the 8th grade and joined the Army on Sept. 6, 1943.  He served in the 79th Infantry Division during World War II and was honorably discharged on April 2, 1946.
 He married Carol Jean Hunt and they were later divorced.
Howard was a logger, miner and a Jack of All Trades.  He enjoyed camping, yard work, visiting with his friends and trips to the Rusty Nail to enjoy a beer.
He had a special friendship with Cindy Bott, who was his caregiver for 18 years before entering the Willows.  She and her family became part of his extended family.  He spent all of his remaining holidays, camping trips and family reunions with the Bott and Wellard families, as well as all his birthdays that he looked forward to every year.
 He is survived by sons, Howard Bingham, Wayne Pearson, Thomas Barton and Leslie Pearson; daughters, Deborah Murphy and Janine Barton; grandsons, Leslie Pearson and Cody Barton and great-granddaughter Moralee Pearson.
           He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert; grandson, Daniel; two sisters and four brothers. 
 Howard’s extended family would like to thank The Willows for their excellent care, Howard was well cared for in his final years.  Also, special thanks to Access Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of Howard during his final weeks.
 Funeral services will be held at the home of Jerry and Judy Wellard, 195 Lansing Street, Blackfoot on Saturday, the 27th of April, 2013 at noon.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent to:
