James 'Jim' Allen Harrington, 60

James “Jim”  Allen Harrington, 60, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 at his home.
Jim was born Aug. 28, 1952 to Cleo Clifford Harrington and Vernetta Mae Campain in Idaho Falls.  He was raised in Blackfoot from sixth grade on, graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1970.
On June 8, 1971 Jim married Karen M. Lowe in Blackfoot.  They have been married for 42 years.
He served in the United States Army from July 1972 to July 1974 when he was honorably discharged.  He lived in Fort Belvoir, Va. and Fort Hood, Texas during his military service.  He was proud to serve, but was anxious to return to Idaho and the outdoors he loved.
Jim worked as a journeyman electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 449.  He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, loved the outdoors, camping and fishing from his boat on the Snake River.  He also enjoyed welding and working with his hands.  His greatest joy was being with his family and his grandchildren.
Jim believed in Jesus.  God loved us and sent His son.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Blackfoot; sons, Clint W. Harrington of Boise and Ross C. (Danielle) Harrington of Pocatello; daughter, Beth N. (Jason) Newell of Boise; brother, Mike (Millie) Harrington; sister, Pat (Doug) Rowe; and four grandsons, Ryan, Tyler, Brody and Morgan.
According to Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home and a celebration of his life will take place Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at Tommy Vaughn’s, at 850 Jensen Grove Drive in Blackfoot.  The open house begins at 5 p.m. and appetizers and beer will be available to enjoy.
Jim would not want you to spend on flowers that wilt and die.  If you feel moved to give something, please send it to The Gideons International at www.gideons.org or the American Bible Society at donate.americanbible.org.  The gift of God’s word always bears fruit!
Condolences may be sent to the family at condolences@hawkerfuneralhome.com.
