Jessie Gene Woodland, 25

Jessie Gene Woodland, 25, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away peacefully Thursday, April 3, 2014 at her mother’s home after a courageous battle with gastric cancer.
Jessie was born Feb. 22, 1989 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Wesley Woodland and Suzette Peterson. She was raised in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 2007. Shortly after high school she attended CSI, graduating with an Associates of Arts in American Sign Language. She planned to pursue her education at Utah Valley University to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Deaf Studies with an Emphasis on Interpreting.
Jessie resided in Lehi, Utah where she worked as a CNA and a Physical Therapy Rehab Aide. In her free time she enjoyed dancing, softball, horses, longboarding, wakeboarding, was a self taught drumming prodigy, going for long summer drives, eating the whole large tub of popcorn at the movies, spending time with her dog Harls Marie (Harley), family, friends and fiancée. She loved vacationing, which included being an excellent beach bum. 
Jessie is survived by her fiancée Emily Mattson of Utah and formerly of Blackfoot; her parents Wesley (Melody) Woodland and Suzette (Wade) McBride; brothers, Stetson (Lindsey) Powers, Case McBride and Brennan Allen; sisters, Maggie (Josh) Wagoner and Leine Woodland; and grandparents, DeVon and Dean Woodland, and Butch and Mavis Lish, all of Blackfoot.
Her grandfather, Lynn Peterson, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and family from 6-8 p.m. on Friday April 11, 2014 and for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Riverside Thomas Cemetery.
