Lady Cougars win district title

FIRTH — Firth head coach Carla reeves got quite the birthday present Thursday night from her Lady Cougars volleyball team, a 3A Nuclear Conference championship.
The Lady Cougars took down North Fremont in straight sets 25-14, 25-17, 25-14 to claim the district title and the berth in next week’s state tournament.
“It was a phenomenal season,” Reeves said. “The entire tournament we only lost one set.”
After the trophy was handed out the entire crowd sang happy birthday to Reeves.
“The team told me that they won the title for me,” Reeves said.
Kylie McCree led the Cougars with 15 kills and four blocks. Bailey Nelson added 10 kills and eight digs. Ashley Sanders and Kayla Jensen each chipped in four kills. Setter Jordyn Park had 26 assists.
“This is a feminine, fierce, focused and every bit the lady,” Reeves said of her team.
The Cougars open 2A state tournament play on Nov. 1 against Malad at Lakeland High School. The match begins at 10 a.m.
