Lady Panthers prevail over Teton

THOMAS — For the second time in as many nights the Snake River Lady Panthers took to the hard wood looking to knock off a Mountain Rivers Conference foe. It wasn't the prettiest of affairs but in the end, Snake River were able to accomplish just that as they defended their home court with a 42-36 win over Teton.
"Everything about this game that was ugly was about us," Snake River head coach Rich Dunn said. "It wasn't anything that Teton did which got us out of our game and maybe it was because for the first time this year we played on back-to-back nights. I was happy to see us come out after half time and play a little bit more like ourselves though."

Indeed the first half was a little rough as the Lady Panthers found the offensive end of the court to be a tad on the disjointed side. Teton took advantage, taking a 11-8 first quarter lead and then pushing the lead out to 14-8 before Makena Shelley picked up a steal, drove for a lay in and then converted the ensuing free throw for the three point play. Brylie Bair added four quick points on the next two possessions and Snake River was in the lead 15-14.
Snake River then pushed the lead to double-digits midway through the third quarter in large part to Madison Pilster who tallied 7 of her game high 11 in the frame. Darci Polatis turned in the hustle play of the night when she dove out of bounds to save a ball right to the waiting hands of Maegan Peace who converted the basket.
"Darci just gutted it out," Coach Dunn said. "She gets banged up on that play and continues to the next dead ball before coming out and she saved it to another girl, Maegan Peace who came off the bench so it's good to see us get production from them. I also thought that Ivy Goff turned in by far her best varsity performance of the year and we will expect more of that going forward."
Snake River (7-1) will hit the road on Tuesday when they travel to Soda Springs, looking to avenge their lone loss on the schedule when they lock up with the Lady Cardinals at 7 p.m.
