Mary Catherine (Molly) O'Rourke Peters

Mary Catherine (Molly) O'Rourke Peters, 89, beloved mother and grandmother peacefully passed away in her sleep surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter in Pocatello, Idaho on March 16, 2014.
Molly was born June 10, 1924 to John T. O'Rourke and Mary C. Hanratty O'Rourke in Pocatello, Idaho. She grew up in Pocatello, attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and graduated from Pocatello High in 1942. Molly worked for several years at Scowcroft & Sons, a product shipping company in Pocatello.
Marriage to a young farmer from Blackfoot soon followed, Clem F. Peters married the love of his life, Molly, on March 4, 1946. For the next 40 years they shared joys, sorrows and many hours farming, attending church gatherings, and raising their five children, John, (deceased), JoAnn, Jim, Jane and Judy. Sadly the union of Clem and Molly ended with the death of Clem on Jan. 19, 1987.
Molly, an active member of St. Bernard's Parish in Blackfoot, volunteered her talents baking pies, cakes and doughnuts during fair week. She also enjoyed helping with the local 4-H organizations. Molly's other hobby was taking pictures; she was rarely seen without her camera, capturring those memories that we all enjoyed.
When the children were old enough, Molly started working outside the home, in a temporary position on the trim line at American Potato. That temp position developed into a full time job lasting for 30 years, retiring in the position as senior operator in the packaging department.
Upon retiring, she helped her daughter JoAnn Blang as office receptionist for "No Job Too Small", and "Rocky Mountain Communication Internet" (RMCI). Molly also worked for Dawn Enterprises as a quality control inspector, 2000-2008, when she moved to Pocatello to live with her daughter Judy.
Molly enjoyed traveling whenever the opportunity arose, from Island Park visiting her daughter JoAnn, to taking an extended trip to Hawaii to help Jane with the newest granddaughter. Molly also enjoyed helping transport dogs, enjoying the beautiful scenery of Southeastern Idaho with her youngest daughter, Judy. Molly always had pets including a small dog named Harley, who was her comfort companion.
Molly was preceded in death by husband, Clem; son, John; her parents; and half brother, Peter "A" McDermott.
She is survived by her children, JoAnn & Larry Blang, Island Park; James & Chris Peters, Jackpot, Nev.; Jane & Mike Cordes, Leavenworth, Kan.; Judy Peters,Pocatello; her nephew, Peter "D" McDermott; her grandchildren, Teresa (Todd) Oakes, Mike Blang, Kris Anderson, Bobbie Jo Bullock, Annaelyse, Laura & William Cordes; many step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
