Memorial Day weekend ceremonies

There are three local Memorial Day events this weekend. The first is on Saturday in Fort Hall with two to follow on Monday in Blackfoot.
The Fort Hall Veterans Memorial Committee will hold a ceremony "Honoring our Warriors" at 10 a.m. at the Fort Hall Veterans Memorial Park on Hwy. 91, a quarter-mile south of Agency Road.
The ceremony will begin with a Shoshone opening prayer and a 21 gun salute, followed by speakers and a flag raising. There will also be a free barbecue and games at noon. The public is welcome.
In Blackfoot on Monday, the American Legion and local businesses will hold a memorial service and wreath laying at Grove City Cemetery on Hwy. 91. starting at 10 a.m. A free luncheon at the American Legion Hall on Fisher Street will take place after the ceremony.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a Memorial Day Flag Ceremony at 11:50 a.m. at Jensen Grove in Blackfoot. The ceremony will include presenting the old flag to a representative of the City of Blackfoot. Then, a new flag will be raised.
