An expansion groundbreaking ceremony took place at Premier Technology, Inc., on Wednesday morning. Premier is located at 1858 W. Bridge St. in Blackfoot.
"We are building a 70,000-square-foot facility," Premier CEO Shelly Sayer said. "It will be filled with new technology and automated equipment."
The contract for the small modular reactors is expected to be announced at the end of July.
If Premier is awarded the contract, "it will be incredible; it will be life-changing," Sayer said. "These reactors have never been built before. (The company) New Scale out of Oregon and designed the reactors. Premier would be the assembler of all the parts."
The new facility is being built at the back of the present facility.
The company is also adding over 100 new jobs.
