Sarah Constance Asmus, 18

Sarah Constance Asmus, 18, of Blackfoot passed away Sunday, Nov. 20,
2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Sarah was born March 24, 1993 in Idaho Falls to Kurt Paul Asmus and Elaine Garbarino Asmus.
Sarah was the beloved sister to Rachel Josephine Asmus. She lived her entire lifetime in Blackfoot, attending school in the Snake River School District, graduating in 2011 from Snake River High School as the valedictorian of her class and president of the Honor Society.
She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering in her community every chance she had. In Blackfoot, Sarah gave her time to the Veterans Home, American Legion, Relay for Life and the Salvation Army. After enrolling in the University of Idaho, majoring in PreMed, she continued her charity work with her sorority sisters at Kappa Alpha Theta.
Sarah was a talented dancer, spending years learning from her dear instructor Paunie Van Orden at Paunie’s School of Dance. She was awarded numerous medals in the Junior Olympics and other dance competitions. During Sarah’s senior year, she was lucky enough to be a member of Amy Mow’s hip hop team at the Downtown Dance Studio.Sarah is survived by her parents, Kurt and Elaine of Blackfoot; and sister, Rachel of Blackfoot; grandparents, Georgina Townsend of Denver, Colo.; Herbert and Debbie Asmus of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Donna Garbarino of Parsippany, New Jersey; Aunt Tania (Jason) Sells, Uncle Ken (Joan) Garbarino, Uncle John Garbarino, Aunt Phyllis Townsend, Uncle Rob (Maryann) Townsend, Uncle Mark Townsend; and cousins Luke, Jesse, Marshal, Robert, and Lauren. Others include countless friends and classmates.
She was preceded in death by grandfathers, John Garbarino, Don Townsend and Ray Krueder.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at the Snake River High School Auditorium, 922 West Highway 39 in Blackfoot.
Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 3011 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot, and for one hour prior to services at the school. Interment will follow at the Moreland Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
