Shelley Lady Russets settle for second

CALDWELL - The Shelley Russets girls soccer team had been in tough spots before, but had always been able to find a way out of them. Not so on Saturday, on the biggest stage that Shelley had ever been on, the 3A State Soccer Championships. The match-up was against the team from CDA Charter, a school who had an undefeated season on the line and had only a single tie on their record. They were not a high scoring team, they didn't have to be because of their vaunted defense.
They had ten shut outs on their resume this season and the Russets found out just how good that defense was first hand. The end result was a 1-0 loss for the Russets, but it wasn't for lack of effort.
