Soloists to be featured in Snake River Orchestra concert

The Snake River Community Orchestra will present its annual Christmas Concert on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Snake River High School auditorium.
The concert will spotlight three soloists as they perform concertos by Vivaldi, Haydn and Mozart. Saint-Saens's "Dance Bacchanale" from Samson and Dalila, and well-loved Christmas music will complete the evening program. The support and dedication to the orchestra are appreciated. Arlene Osborn printed fliers and programs for the orchestra's season performances.
Hannah Murdock has been playing the violin for 10 years. She started playing when she was 6 years old. For the past eight years Murdock has been taking lessons from Joy Taylor and has been playing with the Snake River Community Orchestra for the last four. Murdock has also participated in numerous music festivals, Crawford Cup, and music camps. She loves playing the violin and enjoys the opportunities she gets to play for other people.
Murdock has also been playing the piano for eight years. She is a student at Snake River High School where she plays volleyball and is also on the golf team. Murdock loves to ski with her family during the winter months. Growing up on a farm has given her plenty of work opportunities and a strong work ethic. During harvest she can be found driving a grain cart or a spud truck. She is the daughter of Brian and Joddi Murdock.
Dylan Neff is a sophomore at Blackfoot High School. He has always loved music and started his first lessons on the piano at five years old. In sixth grade he started playing the clarinet in band, and was then introduced to the bassoon, when his teacher introduced their class to several "unusual" instruments.
Since that time, he has been the Principal Bassoonist for the Snake River Community Orchestra for two years, along with the Idaho State Youth Civic Symphony for 1 1/2 years. Other achievements include being Principal Bassoon in the Idaho Allstate Band, second place at Idaho State Solo Festival, and acceptance into the All Northwest Honor Band which includes six states. He said he is very excited to perform as a soloist with the Snake River Community Orchestra.
Jeffrey Hansen has been playing the trumpet since 2004. He has participated in various band programs at Snake River High School including concert band, jazz band, marching band, and
drumline. Hansen has been to district and state solo competitions and continues to play in the Snake
River Community Orchestra. His plans are to attend college at BYU-Idaho this coming January.
