Two teens die in Interstate 15 collision

BLACKFOOT — A two-vehicle accident on Interstate 15 Tuesday afternoon left two local teenagers dead.
According to Idaho State Police, Micah Story, 17, of Chubbuck, was traveling northbound on Interstate 15 at milepost 83 at 3:05 p.m. in a 2002 Ford Mustang. Jacob Colbo, 18, of Blackfoot, was a passenger in Story's vehicle.
For unknown reasons, Story left the roadway from the left shoulder and drove through the median. As her vehicle was re-entering the roadway in the southbound lanes, it overturned and was struck by a semi-truck operated by George Hernandez, 57, of Heyburn. The truck was a Mart Produce truck with a trailer.
Both Story and Colbo were pronounced dead at the scene. ISP said Colbo was wearing a seatbelt, and it is unknown whether or not Story was wearing a seatbelt. Both were ejected from the vehicle.
Hernandez was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the accident.
Northbound lanes of travel were partially blocked for approximately two hours. Southbound lanes of travel were blocked for nearly four hours as ISP investigated and cleared the scene.
Speed is not believed to be a factor in this crash. The crash investigation is continuing.
