Don Weikert says he took a step at the post office in Blackfoot and the ground crumbled underneath him. After sustaining multiple injuries from the fall in July, he is still in physical therapy nearly 4 months later. He now stands in front of the building as the stairs are being replaced and says that he’s so glad this will save someone else from getting hurt. Rod Noah, who is replacing the stairs, says he drove 550 miles to work on this project.

Noah said he was lucky to make it to Blackfoot and that he almost lost a trailer tire on his way from Spokane to Idaho.
